Last night, around 8:30 p.m., a disturbing event took place in Ankaraobato, when the security forces arrested six individuals suspected of being involved in the theft of public property. The circumstances of this arrest are remarkable, as the suspects were apprehended in the act of trying to steal items essential to the functioning of the city. The thugs had targeted high-value public facilities, including size-limiting gates used in the Ifarihy Madera district. Thanks to the vigilance of the police officers who made their regular rounds, these individuals were captured on the spot, thus putting an end to their criminal activities.
During the search that followed their arrest, tools such as crowbars and shovels were discovered in the suspects’ homes, strengthening the evidence of their intention to commit acts of theft and destruction of public property. The six individuals were immediately placed in police custody pending their appearance before the prosecution.
The charges against them are serious, since they are prosecuted for aggravated theft and destruction of public property. These offenses are unfortunately recurrent in the capital and its surroundings. Indeed, in recent times, thefts of materials such as iron, solar panels and even public lighting elements are increasing in the capital and its surroundings. The consequences of these criminal acts are felt by the entire population, as they not only lead to disruptions in the daily functioning of the city, but also in terms of security.
