Six ideas have been “caught” in the competition of ideas for national theater plays / Article

On June 6, the finals of the play idea “fishing” competition took place in the New Hall of the Latvian National Theater.

The authors were heard by a jury of 10 people, consisting mainly of directors who would like to work with the potential play and its author in the near future. The jury consists of theater director and director Jānis Vimba, directors Edmunds Freibergs, Valters Sīlis, Ināra Slucka, artist and director Reinis Suhanovs, actresses and directors – Dita Lūriņa and Marija Bērziņa, actors Kaspars Zvīgulis and Raimonds Celms.

Counting the votes of the jury and discussing the compliance of the ideas with the theatrical plans, 6 authors came to the fore, with whom further discussions on the development of the play will take place.

The play “fishing” competition was organized in search of new ways to attract authors to the National Theater who want to write plays about Latvian people and events, supplementing the theater’s repertoire and the offer of high-quality new drama.

The award ceremony of the competition will take place in the White Hall of the National Theater on June 15 at 2 p.m.
