Six Flags Great America is closing two major attractions in what the park says is preparation for “future expansion,” and this weekend will be your last chance to ride them.
The popular amusement park revealed this week that two “favorites,” Mardi Gras Hangover and Revolution, will be closing.
“While we will miss these attractions, it’s time to plan for future expansion!” the park said in its announcement.
Mardi Gras Hangover debuted in 2018, being the largest coaster of its type at the time and the park’s 16th coaster.
“At 100 feet up, feel the force as you swing back and forth higher and higher! Sure to give you wicked hangover time, take a break from the screaming to see the park from a new perspective,” the description said.
Meanwhile, the Revolution has been in the park since its 2004 debut.
“Revolution spins guests more than 65 feet above the center of the road,” says the description.
Both attractions will operate for the last time on October 29, with this weekend being the last opportunity to ride them. The park also announced plans for special attractions for members early Sunday.
“While we are sad to say goodbye to these attractions, we are excited about the opportunity this allows for future expansion,” Six Flags told NBC Chicago in a statement. “In the near future, we are excited to introduce Sky Striker in 2024.”
The announcement comes as the park prepares to close for the 2023 season.
Six Flags Great America will conclude its season at the end of October. The park will be open on the following days, with variable hours: Thursday, October 26, Friday, October 27, Saturday, October 28, Sunday, October 29, Monday, October 30 and Tuesday, October 31.
