Six AZ players tested positive for corona virus, duel with VVV continues | NOW

AZ has been hit hard by the corona virus. Nine infections were found at the Alkmaar club on Friday. It concerns six players and three employees. Nevertheless, the competition match with VVV-Venlo will continue on Saturday.

According to AZ, four players from the A-selection and two players from Young AZ have been infected with COVID-19. The club does not disclose who it is.

The next league match is scheduled for AZ on Saturday, but according to the club, that match can be played as usual. The team of coach Arne Slot will play at home against VVV-Venlo at 8 p.m.

AZ has started the Eredivisie season moderately. The North Hollanders drew in their first three games against PEC Zwolle (1-1), Fortuna Sittard (3-3) and Sparta Rotterdam (4-4). In that last game they even lost a 0-4 lead.

Due to the disappointing results, AZ is only thirteenth in the ranking with three points. However, the team has played a game less than many other clubs in the Eredivisie because the game with FC Utrecht has been moved to December 27.

Willem II reports two infections

Young AZ played against Young Ajax on Friday evening (3-2 loss) in the Kitchen Champion Division. The two positively tested players were not present. They went into isolation earlier in the day.

Earlier in the day, Willem II reported that a staff member and a staff member were infected with the corona virus. They were tested on Thursday.

Willem II will play at home against FC Twente on Saturday. The Tilburgers, who are eleventh with four points, start the game at 9 p.m.
