They will not have been able to participate in the demonstration on Saturday. To see the contents of the trunk of the car, the police must congratulate themselves for having checked it. Last Saturday, a vehicle from the Paris region was checked near Place de Bretagne in Rennes. This is where a demonstration against “Macron, Darmanin and fascism” was organized a few hours later. In the trunk, the police found “seven molotov cocktails, six homemade bombs made with an artifice taped to a lighter gas refill and three bags of glass balls”, said the public prosecutor Philippe Astruc.
Messenger conversations analyzed
Four people were arrested ahead of the demonstration which brought together around 600 people. The investigations carried out by the departmental security led to the arrest of two additional people. The six defendants, including two women, had little or no criminal record. According to the prosecutor, the suspects had contacted via social networks and discussed via Messenger. The day before the demonstration, they had met at the home of one of the defendants living in the country of Coglais, on the border of the Channel and Ille-et-Vilaine.
The analysis of the conversations of the six people allowed the investigators to confirm what they sensed: “their intentions appear clearly through their remarks tending to attack the police”, revealed Philippe Astruc. One of the individuals implicated was remanded in custody, the other five were placed under judicial supervision. A judicial inquiry has been opened. For these acts of participation in a criminal association and transport of incendiary or explosive product, they incur up to ten years in prison.
