Six Arrested for Stealing Infrastructure of Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train

Karawang Police arrested 6 people suspected of stealing infrastructure Jakarta-Bandung fast train. Stolen items range from cables, copper, bolts, to rail anchors.

The six thieves who become suspects will be charged with theft by weighting as stipulated in Article 363 of the Criminal Code with the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of 7 years.

PT KCIC Corporate Communication Manager Emir Monti revealed that his party was very grateful to the Karawang Police who had succeeded in arresting the perpetrators and strictly processing the law according to the applicable law to create a deterrent effect.


“KCIC condemns this incident of theft because apart from being detrimental it can also endanger the journey of the Fast Train if it is operational later. The public is asked not to enter, damage, or even take KCJB infrastructure,” said Emir in his statement, Tuesday (6/6/2023).

During the construction period, securing the fast train project is the responsibility of the project contractor. KCIC has also collaborated with the TNI and Polri in order to strengthen the security process in various regions.

KCIC together with contractors and the TNI-Polri have and will continue to improve security and socialization to various levels of society on the fast train route so that similar incidents do not happen again in the future.

Emir added, despite this incident, the progress of the KCJB development continues according to plan and will continue to be accelerated ahead of the set operational targets. Testing and commissioning are continuing to ensure that KCJB can operate at speeds of up to 350 km/hour.

“KCIC will continue to socialize with the community, urge the public to take part in maintaining KCJB infrastructure, and immediately report to the authorities if they find anything suspicious.” close Emir.
