Situation report on coronavirus COVID-19 in Uruguay (05/24/2021)

Epidemiological report:

According to the information provided by the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), today 11,723 analyzes were carried out and 2,799 new cases of Coronavirus COVID-19 were detected.

Of the 2,799 new cases, 1,223 are from Montevideo, 454 from Canelones, 261 from Salto, 122 from Colonia, 115 from Tacuarembó, 111 from Paysandú, 88 from San José, 78 from Soriano, 62 from Artigas, 56 from Maldonado, 49 from Cerro Largo, 40 from Rocha, 37 from Rivera, 26 from Lavalleja, 20 from Treinta y Tres, 15 from Flores, 14 from Durazno, 14 from Florida and 14 from Río Negro.

Since the health emergency was declared on March 13, 2020, 2,124,792 tests have been processed and 267,888 positive cases of Coronavirus have been registered throughout the national territory. Of that total, 230,641 have already been recovered.

Today 51 deaths with a diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed in our country (table with detail is attached). So far there are 3,922 deaths diagnosed with COVID-19 in Uruguay.

There are currently 33,325 active cases, that is, people who are suffering from the disease, 504 of them are in critical care centers.

Of the total of confirmed positive cases, 7,488 correspond to health personnel. 7,087 of them have already recovered, 382 are suffering from the disease and 19 have died.

As of today, the 19 departments have active cases.

CLARIFICATION:

The total of confirmed positive cases until yesterday was 265,098. Today 2,799 new cases and a total of 267,888 confirmed positive cases are reported. The difference is explained because, according to the MSP, 9 cases were eliminated.
