Morocco called, on Sunday in Addis Ababa, before the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU) for the immediate cessation of hostilities and the resumption of dialogue in favor of peace and lasting stability in Sudan.
The Ambassador Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the AU and the ECA-UN, Mohamed Arrouchi, who was speaking at a meeting of the PSC on the situation in Sudan, affirmed that Morocco, which is deeply concerned by the current situation in Sudan, urges both sides, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to declare an immediate cessation of fighting.
“We therefore call for an immediate end to the violence to guarantee the safety of civilians and create the necessary conditions for the resumption of dialogue and peaceful negotiations to preserve the unity and sovereignty of this brotherly country”, underlined the Moroccan diplomat.
“We are convinced that violence can never be the solution to a conflict and that dialogue is the only way to achieve lasting peace. In this regard, our Delegation calls on the Chairperson of the AU Commission to use his good offices to accelerate the resumption of dialogue between the various actors, in accordance with Article 10 of the PSC Protocol”, reaffirmed Mr. Arrouchi.
Morocco therefore urges all parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint and work together to find a peaceful solution to this crisis, added the Moroccan diplomat.
“We stand ready to provide all the support needed to help Sudan overcome this difficult period and build a future of peace, stability and prosperity for its people,” Arrouchi said.
“We hope that all the actors involved in the conflict will respond positively to this call and take immediate measures to put an end to hostilities”, reiterated the Moroccan diplomat, calling on the international community to support the process of peace and stability in this country. brother.
