The greatest water suffering seems to have been suffered in Flanders. Rotselaar remains a major exception for the time being, where about twenty houses are still surrounded by water. According to acting mayor Dirk Claes, it may take another two days before the water recedes.
“The situation has stabilized but not improved,” says Claes. “About twenty houses on the Holsbeeksesteenweg are still surrounded by the water, and the water has also entered some houses. Those people are currently also without running water and a few have temporarily sought shelter elsewhere.”
The Wingepark industrial estate is also still inaccessible, although the acting mayor hopes to ensure that the park is accessible by Monday morning.
