Situation in Afghanistan – women will not be able to study at Kabul University

The new rector of Kabul University, Muhammad Ashraf Gairat, appointed by the militants of the radical Taliban movement, said that women are prohibited from studying and working in this institution. They will be able to return to the university when the “real Islamic order” is established.

“I convey to you my words as Rector of Kabul University. Until a real Islamic environment is provided for everyone, women will not be allowed to enter universities or work there. Islam first!” – he said.

It is worth noting that the Taliban had previously stated that women would be able to study and work in accordance with Sharia law and local cultural traditions, but strict dress rules would apply to them.

Thus, wearing the hijab should be compulsory for all female students.
