Aware of the delicate moment, due to the epidemiological emergency still in progress, they decided to demonstrate while specifying their intention to continue to perform their service. This is why the slogan of the local health precarious workers, gathered in front of the entrance to the “Vittorio Emanuele II” hospital in Bisceglie for a brief sit-in on the morning of Monday 25 January, reads an eloquent “I don’t stop but I protest”.
Dozens of workers find themselves in the position of not knowing their fate in the very short term and for this reason they have decided to urge, through an emblematic action, the competent authorities to take measures in the direction of the greatest possible stability to continue to guarantee the essential levels of health assistance to the Bisceglie community and the territory in such a critical phase.
The contract for social and health workers will expire on January 31st. “If all this materializes, the only alternative would be the reduction of Covid beds in Bisceglie,” explained Sergio Di Liddo, provincial secretary of Fials Bat, an organization that had asked the health company several times for an extension for a significant period. The union expressed “full solidarity with all these workers who have a spirit of self-denial and sacrifice and continue to face the Covid emergency on the front line”.
