The Star Princess, which is currently being built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, will join Princess Cruises‘ fleet from autumn 2025. She is the sister ship of the Sun Princess, which entered service in February 2023. Both ships belong to the shipping company’s Sphere class and are powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Like the Sun Princess, the ship will also feature The Dome, the largest glass dome at sea, and The Sphere, a glass-covered piazza at the heart of the ship. The Star Princess can accommodate 4,300 guests.
Advanced onboard facilities
Compared to the Sun Princess, the Star Princess offers its guests some new and expanded leisure and entertainment options.
This is how O’Malley’s Irish Pub is expanding. With 32 additional seats, the popular venue offers even more guests the opportunity to enjoy Irish food, live music and a wide selection of beers and whiskeys.
The non-smoking area of the casino will also be expanded. There are 68 additional slot machines available here.
The exclusive restaurant “Love by Britto”, a collaboration between the Brazilian pop artist Romero Britto and the renowned chef Rudi Sodamin, is being expanded by 20 seats.
The Sky Deck of the Star Princess is being redesigned for guests who are active in sport: the sports field is designed not only for basketball but also for pickleball. There will also be a jogging track on the deck. Shady areas invite you to relax.
A variety of cabin variants and exclusive equipment
With a total of 2,157 cabins, Star Princess offers a wide range of cabins including 80 suites, 123 mini-suites and over 1,000 balcony cabins. The “Sanctuary Collection” cabins, consisting of suites, mini-suites and twelve deluxe balcony cabins, offer exclusive onboard areas that are only accessible to guests of these cabins.
Maiden voyage and first routes
Star Princess’s maiden voyage will depart from Barcelona on October 15, 2025. After two cruises in the Mediterranean, the ship will head across the Atlantic to the Caribbean, where the ship will spend its first season. The Star Princess will finally be in operation in Alaska from spring 2026.
