Sissel Kyrkjebø, the 54-year-old artist from Bergen, is known for his extensive work as a singer, musician and opera singer. She was first noticed as a 13-year-old when she appeared in NRK’s children’s program Halvsju. Kyrkjebø has left his mark on the music scene as an adult with well-known hits such as “Se ilden lyse”, “Kjærlighet” and “Prince Igor: The Rapsody”. She has also managed the incredible, which only Odd Nordstoga has managed together with her. She is the only Norwegian artist to have achieved sales of an album eleven times platinum.

Kyrkjebø’s career has spanned many musical landscapes, including pop and folk music, classical music and hymns, and her singing voice has captivated many. She has been married a total of two times. As many already know, she has lived in both Denmark and Norway.
After a 21-year stay in Denmark, Kyrkjebø chose to return to his homeland, Norway. This followed after she, as a 19-year-old, had begun a relationship with the musician and entertainer Eddie Skoller, which led to marriage in her hometown, Bergen. Unfortunately, their bond did not last and they decided to go their separate ways in 2004.

At 52, she fell in love again, this time with Ernst Ravnaas, a 67-year-old tax lawyer. In 2013, they got married in a secret ceremony in Hov church. They chose not to have any guests this time.
Recently, it was revealed that Kyrkjebø and Ravnaas have worked on a music project together. While touring, Ravnaas sat at home and composed tunes inspired by his wife’s voice. These notes inspired her to write a song with an appropriate story. This collaboration has now resulted in three songs, two of which, “I Rest My Eyes” and “The Journey”, have already been released and are available to fans. It’s really great to see that they have found so much in common in love.
Kyrkjebø shared with NRK the P1 programme “Faith, hope and Lilleseater” that this collaboration has strengthened their relationship in many ways.
– Suddenly getting that type of collaboration – it strengthens the relationship in several ways. We are becoming closer to each other in a different dimension than before. Now we have something creative in common, she has said, she said.
She enthusiastically expressed that life in the country is absolutely wonderful. After living in Oslo for ten years, she felt increasingly drawn to the countryside. In fact, she has always had a longing to live in the country. She values the air, the calm and the closeness to nature.
