Gambon was born in 1940 in Dublin, the capital of Ireland, and made his acting debut in 1962 in the play “Othello,” and later expanded his career to television and film.
In 1998, he was knighted by the British Royal Family.
In addition, in the world-famous blockbuster movie series “Harry Potter” set in England, he played the role of Principal Dumbledore, the mentor of the main character Harry Potter, from the third film “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” onwards. He appeared in six films and became widely known around the world.
According to British media, he announced his retirement as a stage actor in 2015 due to declining memory, but he continued to appear in movies until 2019.
According to a statement from Gambon’s family, he died peacefully at the hospital on the 28th, surrounded by his wife and son, after suffering from pneumonia.
He was 82 years old.
