Sir Jim Ratcliffe to Invest in Manchester United: Control of Sports Sector in Sight

Manchester

Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly coming in soon Manchester United as an investor. He will later take control of the sports sector.

The conglomerate from Greater Manchester will reportedly buy a 25% portion of MU’s shares worth 1.3 billion pounds, or around IDR 24.7 trillion. The process of acquiring minority shares will soon be discussed by the club board.

As part of the deal, Sir Jim Ratcliffe will control sporting affairs. He will take control of on-field and off-field aspects such as the development of the stadium and training center.

The owner of the chemical company Ineos has prepared a strategic step, namely appointing a sports director. Former AS Monaco director Paul Mitchell is reportedly a strong candidate.

So to what extent will Sir Jim Ratcliffe intervene? The former coach of Nice, the French club owned by Ratcliffe, Patrick Vieira provides an illustration.

“He never interferes with my work. We will discuss football when we meet, about the team and our lives, but he is not the type of owner who gets involved too much in technical matters and prevents the manager from doing his job,” he told FourFourTwo as reported by Metro.

“The ambition and expectations are high, so you know your position. But you can carry out your duties freely,” he added.
