British rock musician Sir Elton John will perform “his last farewell concert” in Sweden on Saturday, ending the last concert tour of his career.
The 76-year-old musician has announced that he will no longer go on concert tours and the last concert in his native Great Britain took place in June at the Glastonbury Festival, while the last concert of the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour will take place on Saturday at Stockholm’s “Tele2 Arena”.
Elton John started the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour in 2018, but it was stopped several times, both due to the restrictions imposed in many places due to the pandemic, and in connection with the musician himself falling ill with Covid-19.
Elton John’s stage career has spanned more than 50 years.
The legendary music farewell tour with more than 300 concerts has been recognized by Billboard as one of the highest-grossing tours in world history and the first to exceed $900 million (€827 million) in ticket revenue. John himself has stated that more than six million people have enjoyed his concerts in person.
John announced the last concert tour five years ago, emphasizing that priorities in his life have changed and he wants to focus on his family – his husband – Canadian cinematographer David Furnish – and his two children.
The five-time Grammy winner is expected to continue writing and recording new music, including collaborations with other artists.
