The Italian Society for Cardiovascular Prevention (SIPREC) and the Italian Society of Hygiene, Preventive Medicine and Public Health (SITI) are pleased to announce the launch of a joint project aimed at raising public awareness of the crucial importance of influenza vaccination.
At a time when health public is at the center of global attention, SIPREC and SITI reiterate the urgency of an effective vaccination campaign against seasonal influenza, underlining the benefits for both the individual and the community.
Key points of the project:
-
- Cardiovascular prevention: Influenza vaccination plays a fundamental role in reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications related to influenza, particularly in those at risk.
- Protection of vulnerable groups: The project aims to increase vaccination coverage, especially among the elderly, patients with chronic diseases and healthcare workers.
- Reduction of the burden on the healthcare system: Increased vaccination compliance will help reduce pressure on hospital facilities during the flu season.
- Information and education: Targeted communications initiatives will be developed to disseminate scientifically accurate information on the benefits and safety of influenza vaccines.
- Vaccination appropriateness: The project places particular emphasis on the use of appropriate vaccines for those at greatest risk, ensuring optimal protection. Specific guidelines will be provided for the use of high-dose or adjuvanted vaccines in the most vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and patients with chronic diseases, to ensure an adequate immune response and more effective protection.
Prof. Massimo Volpe (in the photo), President of SIPRECsaid: “This collaboration represents an important step towards greater awareness of the interconnection between cardiovascular health and infectious disease prevention. Attention to vaccination appropriateness in at-risk individuals is essential to maximize the benefits of the campaign.”
Prof. Roberta Siliquini, President of SITI, added: “By combining our expertise, we can provide a stronger and more coherent message on the importance of influenza vaccination as a public health tool. The use of vaccines appropriate for each risk group is essential to ensure effective protection and lasting.”
SIPREC and SITI invite all healthcare professionals, institutions and the media to support this initiative, contributing to the dissemination of accurate information and promoting a culture of prevention.
