The Government once again ignored the appeals, but also the warnings of the regional press!
The provision of the law that he submitted to the Parliament, which extends for another two years the mandatory publication of public announcements in the regional press, is not only not a “solution”, but on the contrary, it maintains an unacceptable “hostage” regime of the regional type (which completes almost a decade) and also opposes the self-evident: And the self-evident is the perpetuation of the status of state publications in the regional press not as a gift or provision, but as a fulfillment of the State’s obligation to ensure conditions of transparency in its transactions public which has been proven to be the only way they are served!
But transparency has no expiration date! It is a timeless obligation of a privileged person State and does not expire in 2023 or 2025!
We have explained in all tones and we repeat once more that the maintenance of mandatory state publications in the Regional Press is required for reasons of transparency, good administration and substantial information to citizens about important decisions and activities of public bodies and especially about acts and decisions of the administration relating to projects, supplies and services, i.e. management and distribution of public money.
Today there is no other way to do this with absolute validity, reliability and evidential force so that both the directly interested and the third citizens are fully and promptly informed about serious issues that do not only concern public money but often affect life or property the etc. End of story…
We must be clear: The new extension is completely unjustified. It is explained only by reasons of micro-political expediency. And for this he finds all the regional press, absolutely and categorically the opposite.
We call on the Government not to persist in this incomprehensible and unacceptable decision and to finally keep its commitments.
We call on the political parties that have almost all taken a public position in favor of the permanence of state publications, to support this rightful request inside and outside Parliament.
Finally, we call on the regional parliamentarians who know first hand the historical and timeless contribution of the regional press not only to information, but also to the struggles of the citizens of Greece “outside the walls” for a better life, not to cooperate with their vote in extension of the taunting and hostage-taking of the industry!
