Sinsheim-Dühren. (tk) Labrador mixed breed dog “Tessa” had bloody diarrhea, later she vomited blood while walking in the vineyards between Dühren and Angelbachtal, right hand. That was last Thursday, March 25th. It quickly went first to the nearest vet, from there to the veterinary clinic in Sinsheim. Because the owners reacted quickly, possibly also because only a small amount of poison was ingested, the animal survived and is now fit again. The slightly elevated liver values should recover over the coming week.
Is there a problem with poison bait around the district? The dog owners Anja S. and Angela N. also report that similar messages are circulating among dog owners in the village. The symptoms of poisoning described are also similar to those in the case described. The thinning of blood there suggests rat poison. Veterinarian Dr. Sonja Gebhard reports an accumulation of poisoning cases in dogs in large parts of the Dühren district, for example at the sports field. It is unclear whether strangers have laid bait. Some artificial fertilizers on plants can also be toxic to dogs.
