The publication reports that only one patient with COVID-19 is in critical condition at the clinic of Dr.Geraldo Cesar Reis in Serran. It turned out to be a 63-year-old woman who refused a Chinese vaccine Sinovac, which was offered to every adult in the city. It is known that the reason for the refusal was the fact that the woman expected the Pfizer vaccine, but there is little in Brazil.
At the same time, other adults took advantage of the offer and were vaccinated with the Chinese vaccine. This helped the city to overcome the coronavirus in a country where the situation with COVID-19 is extremely difficult.
The vaccination program was called “Project S” and lasted four months. The project tested the effectiveness of the vaccine under real conditions.
As a result, preliminary results were published on Monday, which turned out to be very encouraging. It became clear that the pandemic can be controlled if three quarters of the population are fully vaccinated Sinovac.
“The most important result was the realization that we can control the pandemic even without vaccinating the entire population,” said Ricardo Palacios, director of the São Paulo State Butanthan Institute and research coordinator.
As a result of the study, the entire population of the city was divided into four geographical areas, regardless of age and gender, and by the end of April, most adults had two vaccinations. Sinovac… The results showed that the pandemic left the city after vaccinating three districts. Mortality in the city decreased by 95%, the number of hospitalizations – by 86%, and symptomatic cases decreased by 80%.
