The Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti, announced this Friday that the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) authorized the emergency use of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine against COVID-19 in children between three and 11 years old.
“They confirmed to us from the ANMAT that we can advance in the authorization of the emergency use of Chinese Sinopharm vaccine in boys and girls aged 3 to 11 years, which adds to the escalation of vaccination in adolescents, “said the official.
Along these lines, Vizzotti explained that Argentina has a total of 10 million doses of this injection produced in the People’s Republic of China in stock, and that “another million more” will arrive between October 4 and 11.
“This is why we kept the vaccines, the strategic stock of vaccines that had the possibility of being applied to boys and girls,” he said.
On the other hand, the head of the national health portfolio indicated that on Monday the Federal Health Council will be convened, to “to be able to advance with the ministers of the provinces.” According to the provincial strategic plans, “it will be possible to start with universal vaccination, with prioritized children. And after the meeting we will begin the distribution of vaccines,” he announced.
