Wada believes that the finding of “absence of fault or negligence” was not correct under the current rules. Wada, we read in the press release, could ask for a disqualification period of between one and two years for Sinner. However, the results achieved from March to now would not be affected.

The World Anti-Doping Agency still had a few days, until the end of September, to appeal against ITIA’s acquittal and decided, after requesting documents from the independent agency that deals exclusively with doping and corruption in tennis to get to the bottom of it. The CAS will only be able to accept Wada’s request and arrange for arbitration in the coming weeks.

Sinner and doping: what is at risk after Wada’s appeal

Sinner: “I am disappointed and surprised”

Sinner declared himself “very disappointed and also surprised by this appeal to be honest, because we had three hearings and all three ended in a very positive way for me. I didn’t expect it – he added after the success obtained against Roman Safiullin in the second round of the ATP tournament in Beijing – But I had been informed a couple of days ago that they would appeal and that today it would be official. They just want to make sure that everything is done correctly, but I’m surprised.”
