The Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG), in a statement read this Friday, March 10, 2023 by its Secretary General Steeve Nzegho Dieko, suspended until further notice the activities planned as part of the commemoration of its 55th anniversary (March 12). This is due to the drama that is currently shaking the country, following the sinking of the ship the “Esther miracle”, which occurred this Thursday, March 9, 2023 in the early morning.
« Following the recent sinking of the boat of the company Royal Cost Marine, the Esther Miracle, rallying Port-Gentil, which caused 03 deceased persons, 123 survivors, 25 missing persons, and because of the number of deaths which could increase of the number of missing persons, the Distinguished Comrade President His Excellency Ali Bongo Ondimba has decided to suspend and postpone the festivities marking the 55th anniversary of our Grand Party to a later date”said the general secretary of the CEO.
It should be noted that as part of the commemoration of “March 12”, several activities were planned, in particular the holding of a symposium for the female youth of the UFPDG, the inauguration of the party library, but above all the official ceremony to celebrate this 55th anniversary which was to be held this Sunday, March 12, 2023.
