Sinkhole NY. A pickup truck that was parked on a street in Queens, New York sank into a huge hole early Thursday morning, it reported. The New York Post.
Half the vehicle, an orange Toyota RAV4, was sunk inside the hole when it was discovered around 6 a.m. on 70th Street near 52nd Avenue in Maspeth, according to authorities.

Likewise, the authorities highlighted that the vehicle had already been removed from the hole and indicated that the front of the truck had suffered some damage, although they did not offer further details.
Councilman Robert Holden shared the shocking images of the accident on his Twitter account. The hole caused the closure of streets near the accident such as 70th Street between 52nd Avenue and 53rd Avenue and 52nd Drive between 69th St and 70th Street, Holden said.

The New York City Fire Department was called to the scene and determined that there were no injuries as the truck was unoccupied.
The New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYC DDC) is investigating whether the tunnel construction currently underway may have caused the gaping hole in Maspeth Street to open, it said. Eyewitness News.
A spokesperson for the NYC DDC told the reported outlet that the Department is building a line of underground tunnels in the area 3,000 feet long and 60 feet underground. The NYC DDC jobs have taken around three months.
