On Wednesday afternoon, a growing hole was discovered in the ground at Karisvingen in Jessheim.
The hole occurred two meters away from the driveway of mother of two Stephanié Kjærstad, who says that several were frightened by the sight.
It was Romerikes Blad who first mentioned the case.
The collapse
Parts of the asphalt and lawn from the garden collapsed into the hole, and the water bubbled. Kjærstad says that it must have occurred very quickly, as they had not seen anything wrong with the road half an hour before the hole had become very extensive.
Forced home to quick clay
– The hole was large and at least two and a half meters deep. It came all of a sudden. We saw how it grew and set up our own barriers, while we waited for the police and the municipality, Kjærstad told Dagbladet.
– When the ground fades away, you quickly start thinking about the worst. I have not slept very well last night, she adds.
The mother of two says that the sight of the sinkhole quickly brought to mind the landslide in Gjerdrum, which happened on 30 December last year.
Closed by the water
Kjærstad says that the municipality was on site after two hours and set up fence barriers in the neighborhood.
On Thursday, water is pumped out of the sinkhole, and the water at several households in the neighborhood has been shut off.
– I have two small children aged one and a half and three years, and you really notice how essential water is, once you no longer have it. We hope the municipality can solve it quickly.
Found the cause
Morten Kjeverud, acting unit manager for water, sewage, waste disposal and roads in Ullensaker municipality, tells Dagbladet that they quickly found the cause of the problem.
