A long journey. The 2022 F1 World Championship has just begun, teams and drivers must prepare to face a calendar full of events in which everything will weigh on sports management.
We are in the year of the technical revolution: new single-seaters and new tires to be known and above all to be developed. The first stirrings of the championship made the Cavallino Rampante again, given the double scored by the Monegasque Charles Leclerc and the Spaniard Carlos Sainz, first and second on the podium in Sakhir (Bahrain).
We are only at the beginning, as mentioned, and in this world match the ability to evolve the project will be decisive. In this discourse one cannot fail to consider the Budget Cap. The expenditure ceiling for each team it was in fact lowered by 5 million dollars compared to that of 2021 (140 million the maximum allowed, with the prospect of reducing it by another 5 million in 2023) and will have its own importance in relation to the adoption of new material and how and when to introduce it. In this context it will be even more fundamental to have a reliable single-seater so as not to have to pursue this goal and use resources that can affect the coffers.
However, there is a problem also and above all linked to the increase in costs that is characterizing contemporaneity due to the consequences related to the conflict in Ukraine.. “Inflation is going in an unpredictable direction, and transportation costs in recent weeks have also gone up in a way that is difficult to predict.. There will be discussions to find the right solutions, always keeping at the center the principle that everyone must be guaranteed the same availability“, The words of the F1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali (source: motorsport.com).
According to ISTAT, as reported by motorsport.com, in Italy there was an increase of 0.9% on a monthly basis and of 5.7% on an annual basis (from + 4.8% in the previous month). clearly this can lead to differences in spending power.
Ferrari like the other top teams want a review of expenses to respect the development plans, while the “less rich” teams do not intend to affect the balance. We will find out in the coming weeks how we want to move.
