Singer Zulkifli Zul Zivilia Continues to Work from Prison, Wife Works to Redeem His Guitar

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Singer Zulkifli or Zul Zivilia is now back at work even though he is currently in the Gunung Sindur Class IIA Narcotics Prison, West Java.

Zul with his band at prison and Zivilia are often invited to the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) events.

His wife, Retno Paradinah, said that Zul asked him to redeem the guitar he pawned.

Remembering every gig, Zul often holds a guitar or keyboard.

“I am now given the task of Kak Zul because he is playing the guitar and holding the guitar, moreover when he has performed under the name Zivilia, he plays the guitar,” said Retno in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, Friday (11/8/2023).

“So he asked for the guitar that was sold and pawned yesterday, how can I get it back because there were several guitars that I pawned, asked to redeem the guitar because of limitations, maybe the musical instrument wasn’t good enough,” Retno continued.

Retno said that he was currently collecting money so he could buy Zul’s guitar.

Retno said, previously he pawned several Zul guitars for around Rp. 5 million to Rp. 9 million.

“There are attempts to try how to redeem it, but collect funds first, because there aren’t a lot of them,” said Retno.

Retno was grateful because now Zul was allowed to return to work.

In fact, said Retno, her husband had performed three times while in prison at Kemenkumham events.

“I’m really happy, of course, the term also helps activities in prison, yes, that’s said there is an additional remission. So thank God he wants to work again, and wants to share his knowledge in the world of music in prison,” said Retno.

“There is no payment, that’s his show. Yes, he said that this was the most expensive fee while he was performing outside, because he could see toll roads, new cars,” said Retno.

Zul Zivilia’s case began with his arrest on March 1 2019 at the Gading River View City Home Apartment, Kelapa Gading West, North Jakarta.

Zul was arrested while weighing and wrapping methamphetamine weighing 9.54 kilograms and 24,000 ecstasy pills in a number of plastic clips.

As a result of his actions, Zul Zivilia was sentenced to life imprisonment.

In his consideration, the prosecutor considered that the thing that incriminated Zul was because he had deviated from government programs and damaged the younger generation.

After undergoing trial, the North Jakarta District Court sentenced Zul Zivilia to 18 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, Wednesday (18/12/2019). Zul Zivilia was sentenced to 18 years in prison for being proven to be a narcotics broker.
