Lennon hardly knew his father, he was raised by his mother and aunt. Young John constantly rebelled and “spoiled” his classmates. He paid for a very problematic child. In addition, his mother died too early (in 1958), to which he responded by drinking and rioting.

In 1956, however, he received his first guitar. He formed the band Quarrymen, which was later joined by Paul McCartney, and also recommended his friend George Harrison as a guitarist. In 1960, the name Beatles appeared and a new band began playing in Hamburg, Germany. Then the rise was fast – the first single Love Me Do was released in 1962 and the album Please Please Me in 1963, when they became known in England. But the real world superstars did not make them a performance on the American The Ed Sullivan Show. They wrote, performed and interviewed daily. Exhaustion began to appear and the Beatles began experimenting with drugs.

Boards as Help! (1965), Rubber Soul (1965), Revolver (1966), Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967) was very successful worldwide and young Lennon suddenly led the most famous group in the world, but he was still not satisfied.

In 1968, the Beatles set out for India in search of a new spiritual direction, which greatly moved John mentally, but the group disintegrated. Lennon wanted to take his girlfriend Yoko Ono with him everywhere, which bothered the rest of the band. Gradually, he began recording music with her and lost interest in the Beatles – in 1969 he left the band for good, but it was not yet publicly known.

Lennon then released records with Yoko Ono, in 1970 it was the John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band album. According to critics, it was not bad, but with the then master of the Beatles Abbey Road (1969) it was simply impossible to compare and did not have much commercial success. The album Imagine (1971) with an introductory hit of the same name is better known.

Records followed by Some Time in New York City (1972), Mind Games (1973), Walls and Bridges (1974) and Rock ‘n’ Roll (1975). Shortly after the release of Double Fantasy, John Lennon was assassinated on December 8, 1980.

He signed the record that day to fan Mark David Chapman and went to the studio. When Yoko and I returned to his Manhattan apartment that evening, Chapman shot him in the back four times. He was quickly taken to Roosevelt Hospital, but was only pronounced dead.

It’s not clear if Chapman was crazy, but he says he wanted to kill more people, like Paul McCartney and Ronald Reagan. Some experts claimed that he suffered from delusions, others questioned it. In any case, Chapman rejected the defense for insanity and confessed to the murder.
