Singer Synkop 61 Michal Polák died

Synkopy 61 was formed in 1960, but Polák did not become a singer until 1966, thus contributing to a stylistic shift towards The Beach Boys, The Hollies or The Yardbirds and focusing on his own compositions instead of cover versions.

In 1966, the band penetrated abroad for the first time and won the main prize at the festival in Gliwice, Poland. In 1967, they won the prize for the best Moravian band from the 1st Czechoslovak Beat Festival in Prague, and in the second year they won 2nd place with the composition Casanova.

Since 1970, the band has been fully professional, touring Poland and Austria. It disappeared in 1990, but five years later it announced a comeback and Michal Polák sang with it again.
