With the Spencer Davis Group named after him, of which Steve Winwood was the lead singer at the time, Davis had several big hits in the 1960s. The most famous songs are ‘Gimme Some Lovin’, ‘I’m A Man, Keep On Running’ and ‘Time Seller’.

In addition to being the driving force behind The Spencer Davis Group, he also helped launch the careers of Bob Marley and Robert Palmer. He has also written songs for other artists, including Dusty Springfield.
