Singer Roé Revisits Solo Repertoire in Intimate Milonga del Angel Performance

The singer, who has collaborated with some very big names in pop rock and world music, revisits his songs this Friday, in his adopted city.

It’s rare enough for it to be an event. This Friday, in the intimate setting of the Milonga del Angel, the singer Roé will revisit his solo repertoire, on dry guitar. A not insignificant exercise, for this singer and guitarist who experienced the big stages and prestigious collaborations in the 90s (he played with Iggy Pop, David Gilmour, Stéphane Eicher, Charlélie Couture, Ismaël Lo, etc.) before settle permanently in Nîmes.

“After the Olympia, I was never afraid of playing alone again!”

“The first time I played solo on stage was in 90-91… at the Olympia, says Andres Roé. Until then, I had always worked with the guitar bass drum combo and I was called one morning to ask me to open for American singer Garland Jeffreys that same evening! It was solo, I had no choice. I showed up, I improvised… and it worked really well. Since then, after the Olympia, I have never been afraid to play alone again!”

While he is preparing a new album (or rather double album), Roé wanted to sing his old songs. “It was like a call. I needed to sing them again before releasing the new ones. And so alone, with my acoustic guitar. It’s interesting to see how you can move with just that!” The public will also discover the clip made for the song “A Nîmes” during a competition launched by Roé a few weeks ago. The winner is Yann Le Floch and the clip will be screened before the concert.

Friday, November 17, at 8:30 p.m., at Milonga del Angel, 47 rue d’Occitanie.
10 et 15 €.
