Rob de Nijs was admitted to hospital on Thursday evening. The eighty-year-old singer had to be picked up at home by ambulance and will be examined on Friday.
The management of De Nijs confirms this. The Telegraph reports that the singer became unwell at home and had problems breathing. According to the newspaper, he regained consciousness around midnight in the hospital, but his condition deteriorated again afterwards.
The singer, known for songs like Jan Klaassen the Trumpeter, Malle Babbe in Banger Hart, ended his career last year with a concert in the Ziggo Dome. De Nijs suffers from Parkinson’s disease, which means that performing is no longer possible.
In his long career, the singer received, among other things, an Edison and a Golden Harp for his oeuvre.
