Minoy confessed, “I thought I needed to study, so I studied hard. Then, the director of the practical music academy looked at me favorably and said he would teach me music for free. But there was so much opposition at home that I couldn’t muster the courage.”
He continued, “At that time, the Sewol Ferry disaster occurred. I had a friend who I went to a practical music academy with, and he went to Danwon High School in Ansan. On the day of the school field trip, we boarded a plane, and they boarded a ship. I was in a situation where I could have died too. “So I thought I should do what I wanted to do,” he recalled.
He added, “I told my parents (that I wanted to pursue music), and they gave me permission, but they said, ‘I can’t help you on my behalf.'”
