Singer Mika chosen to be the patron of the 38th edition of the Telethon: News

Mika, an international star for nearly two decades, will sponsor the Telethon on November 29 and 30. The 41-year-old singer talks about this unique choice in the columns of Le Parisien.

He is known for his hits “Relax, Take It Easy”, “Grace Kelly”, “Elle me dit” and his endearing character when he was a coach on the show “The Voice“. Mika is making his comeback as the future sponsor of the 38th edition of the Telethon, reveals The Parisian, Wednesday September 18. Born in Lebanon and with British-American nationality, the 41-year-old Francophile singer spoke to the daily newspaper about this unique commitment.

“JI am really happy to be the sponsor of something so perfect, concrete and remarkable. And not only from a French point of view but from a European point of view.”he says. Mika explains that he has already been contacted by the association several times in the past but he “was waiting for the right moment” to sponsor the event. Between tours, his filming for the British channel Channel 4 and the end of his participation in the show “The Voice”, the singer, 23rd favorite personality of young French people, was looking for the right moment to “get 100% involved“.

“I challenge all my friends in music, cinema, sport

The singer-songwriter confides to the newspaper the inspiration that his meetings with the people of AFM-Téléthon evoke in him. “They have a different outlook on life, they don’t accept ‘no’ […] It’s powerful, the ambition of a sick person who sets himself the goal of healing while everyone around him says the opposite. We can’t get tired of helping them.”

For this 38th edition of the charity marathon, Mika intends to bring together cultural fields. “I challenge all my friends in music, cinema, sports to join me… If we can create a marching band.” A beautiful promise that could see the light of day on France Télévisions on November 29 and 30. Every year since its creation in 1987, the objective of these evenings is to collect as many donations as possible for the benefit of research into rare genetic diseases. In 2023, the Telethon had collected nearly 93 million euros.
