Singer Marco Borsato wants to investigate the source of gossip about transgressive behaviour: what is going on?

Where do those rumors come from? They were sent out into the world by what are called “juice channels” in the Netherlands: gossip accounts on social media that spread juicy stories about celebrities. You can find them on YouTube, Instagram and WhatsApp, for example. The founders of those accounts get their information from tips that followers send them, or from people in the entourage of famous people. The stories do not necessarily have to be checked and confirmed, they appear unfiltered and start living their own lives from there.

So “Juice channels” don’t take it too seriously with the journalistic rules about how you deal with sources and stories. They only have to comply with the law and the rules of the platform on which they are active, says Dutch professor Mark Deuze to the Dutch broadcaster. US. It is a new phenomenon, but those gossip accounts appear to be very popular in the Netherlands. The most famous have between 100,000 and 150,000 followers, and that number is rising rapidly.
