‘I will leave the hospital after six months. Standing, walking and much more. Yet the long, difficult road is not over. I will still come here three times a week and have therapy at home. I come from far,” writes Karoline Kamosi (44), as the singer is really called, on Instagram.
Earlier this year, Leki had a stroke, so she had to learn a lot of things again. Her producer Stef Kamiel Carlens announced this on Facebook.
The last thing she remembers is promoting her song The river, she now writes on Instagram. After that, she didn’t feel well for five days, but continued to work as usual. A little later she was found on the floor of her living room and taken to the hospital. The singer even ended up in a coma and crawled through the eye of the needle, she writes. She was in intensive care for two weeks. When she awoke, she was mostly paralyzed and deaf. She also suffered from speech disorders, there was a lot of neurological damage and she was very confused.
Earlier this year, she was also hospitalized because of cerebral malaria. About ten years ago, the singer contracted cerebral malaria for the first time, the most aggressive and deadly variant that affects the nervous system. She got through the eye of the needle, but the condition weakened her body. Yet she continued. Performing, making radio as one of the Madamen. It eventually led to a famous burnout.
But after six months of rehabilitation, the singer is now doing a little better. She makes that clear by posting a photo of her leaving the hospital with her suitcase. “Glad I’m still alive and able to celebrate every moment,” she writes.
