Singer Helen Reddy (78) passed away

Australian singer Helen Reddy has died in Los Angeles at the age of 78. Her family reports this on Wednesday. Reddy was best known for her feminist song ‘I Am Woman’.

“It is with great sadness that we report the death of our beloved mother, Helen Reddy,” her children Traci and Jordan declared on the singer’s official Facebook page. She died in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon. “She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and a wonderful woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in knowing that her voice will live forever. ”

Reddy was the first Australian to win a Grammy Award and hit the US charts. That was with ‘I Am Woman’, which came out in 1971. In her victory speech, she thanked God, “because she makes everything possible”. The lyrics of the song “I am woman, hear me roar” became a slogan of feminists in the 1970s. The singer’s life was filmed in 2019. It was also given the name ‘I Am Woman’.

Reddy had been out of the spotlight for years since she was diagnosed with dementia.
