Singer Gatti died – News

The Ricchi e Poveri group became famous especially in the 80s, and many of their hits became the basis for several covers, including Czech ones. But it was created as early as 1967, in Genoa, Italy. At the time it was made up of four singers, as well as Gatti, Angela Brambati, Angelo Sotgiu and Marina Occhiena, who later left the group.

Among the best known songs of the band Ricchi e Poveri, who are still performing, are his old hits Mamma Maria, Piccolo Amore, Come Verei, Made in Italy or Che Sara.

Since the late 1960s, the group has sold over twenty million albums. Its strength was the harmony of different voices from bass to soprano.

I’m still on tour

Gatti officially retired from music in 2016. So group now continuing in duo. In recent years, musicians have played successful concerts in Malta, Slovenia and Russia, among others.

They then held their last big concert – always exceptionally in the original lineup – at the famous Italian music festival in Sanremo in 2020. Gatti was not lacking among the musicians. At that time, it was their official celebration of fifty years of existence.

The band has visited the Czech capital several times, for example in 2012 as a guest in a concert Michele David.

Also interesting is the origin of the name of one of the most popular Italian bands of its time, in Czech it means Rich and Rich. He invented it by his manager. “He wanted to express that in the beginning we were rich in spirit and poor in money,” Brambatiová told ČTK in 2008, when the trio sang in Prague.
