Victim of a fraudulent message at the start, the scammer pretending to be a bank adviser even went to his house to take his credit card.
Anyone can be scammed… The fake fine or fake bank adviser scam is currently claiming many victims in France. And in particular the singer Dave.
The latter, as France Sunday reports this Friday, June 9, received an SMS telling him that he had received a ticket and that he had to pay the fine online.
A well-crafted scam: a fake advisor, hacked data
The message being fraudulent and the scam well put together, he is then called back by a fake bank adviser. The man on the phone explains to him that these bank details have been hacked and to avoid being robbed, offers him to recover his credit card in order to oppose.
The scammer then goes to Dave’s after having obtained his address in the Vaucluse, always posing as the bank adviser to supposedly regularize his situation as soon as possible. He retrieves the 79-year-old singer’s credit card and the secret code before leaving.
The man thus took 30,000 euros from Dave’s account.
To his home
However, the singer, taken in doubt after the departure of the false adviser, contacts his bank to reassure himself by verifying that the establishment had indeed sent a person to his home.
The bank tells him it’s a scam. But the police were able to go back to the aranqueur and the singer was able to be reimbursed.
However, it is essential to be very careful. The scam continues and people who are defrauded of a more modest sum may not recover it. Indeed, as reported Capital, the investigations are only opened from a certain prejudice. So caution is in order.
