The spanish singer Carlos Marin, estrella of the musical group ‘Il Divo’, ha deceased from coronavirus at age 53. He had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Manchester (United Kingdom) since 8 December and had entered induced coma, even though he was vaccinated.
The baritone had starred in such works as ‘Les Misérables’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘Grease’. Since 2003 he was part of the ‘Il Divo’ project.
Through the musical group’s Twitter account, his colleagues have confirmed the sad news. “It is with great regret that we let you know that our friend and partner Carlos Marín has passed away. His friends, family and fans will miss him. There will never be another voice or spirit like Carlos“says the message.
As a result of the situation he was in, hospitalized, intubated and in an induced coma, the production company Primer Beat Producciones announced the postponement until June 15, 2022 of the concert to be held at the Coliseum in A Coruña on December 22.
‘Il Divo’ was founded by the famous Simon Cowell, the same from ‘One Direction’, after imagining that an all-male lyrical quartet would have possibilities covering mythical songs.
In addition to Carlos Marín, the group was made up of Urs Bühler, Sébastien Izambard and David Miller. Together they have published nine studio albums so far, from the eponymous ‘Il Divo’ (2004) to the most recent ‘For Once In My Life: A Celebration of Motown’ (2021), with which they have managed to sell about 40 million copies Worldwide.
Alone, last year Marín published a solo album titled ‘Portrait’ in which he dared to cover ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ by Queen, among other hits.
