Singer Calls for Deprivation of Ukrainian Citizenship for Taisiya Povaliy’s Participation in Russian Concert

Singer Anastasia Prikhodko, who represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the Ukrainian-Russian song “Mamo,” called for singer Taisiya Povaliy to be deprived of Ukrainian citizenship.

According to Prikhodko, citizenship should be deprived for participation in the “Songs of the Russian World” concert in the Kremlin.

“Take away her citizenship and title already! And forget your name,” Prikhodko demands.

The comment with the appeal was published against the background of a video from the concert, where Povaliy, together with members of the Kuban Cossack Choir, sings the famous song “You Podmanula” in Ukrainian.

Povaliy did not react to the threat of deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship.

EADaily reminds, Taisiya Povaliy was born in the Kyiv region. The Povaliy star, discovered in 2011 on the Avenue of Stars in Kyiv, was destroyed by vandals in 2014. In 2015, she was stripped of the title of People’s Artist of Ukraine. After the start of a special military operation, she moved to Russia, while her son took a different position and remained in Ukraine. She openly supported the special operation, saying that this way Russia was “riding the world of Nazism.”

In October last year, Povaliy was included in the Ukrainian sanctions list.
