Already welcomed in 2022, with his group Mocking Dead Bird, the Traverse association once again invites the singer and poet for an immersive writing time at the summit of the Pic du Midi. He will come back down for a concert in Lesponne.
Coming to the show through the singer’s door, a bit oblique, Daniel Webster Scalliet maintains the frontality of the public bawler. With an American mother and French father, he is fond of Anglo-Saxon singing and French poetry. He explores, as a songwriter, a rather rock territory, hybrid folk in its origin, and resolutely blues in its structure. Projet Vertigo, The Rainbones, Facteur Sauvage, Mocking Dead Bird are his favorite bands. His inspirations range from Leonard Cohen to Nick Cave, including Pablo Neruda and Gil Scott-Heron. He is said to be a Roaring Folk Animal. Between songwriting and fleeting poetry, Bison Phare is a blue-blooded animal. He sings his two languages and carries skeletons of stories whispered in secret. He is a galloping ghost trying to light up the night, and his tenor guitar carries within it an electric dream.
We don’t know what the stars will whisper to him during this writing residency at the summit of the Peak and in partnership with the team, but what is certain is that the summits inspire him, and that the blue of the sky risks to take us to the firmament of music.
