Originally from the North of France

Originally from Lille, Eloïz, whose real name is Eloïse Lapaille, will present her first eponymous album to the public of the “Lot en Meule Bleue” on Thursday September 5 at the Cahors exhibition center. Album in which we find her first hit “Hey Bro” and a duet with Ridsa (“How are you?”) which is also programmed at “Lot en Meule Blue” this year.

A self-taught musician (she started singing at the age of 6, she learned piano and guitar from YouTube tutorials), Eloïz is doing her first festival tour. “This is my first summer tour. It’s super important for me to meet as many new audiences as possible.” Eloïz will perform in front of the Lot audience accompanied by three musicians (a drummer, a guitarist and a keyboard player). “I don’t know if you learn to go on stage. I think it’s something that’s innate and that’s in me. The day I had the light bulb moment, when I realized that I wanted to make music my job, was when I did theFrance has incredible talent” show in 2020. It was when I left the stage that I told myself that my place was there after all.”

Her appearance on the M6 show in 2020 convinced her to start singing. In May 2023, Eloïz posted her song “Hey bro”, which she had composed in 2016, on social media. The song was a great success, with over 4.5 million views on YouTube. The song “Hey bro” is regularly played on the radio. The young woman then decided to leave the gendarmerie school, which she had joined at the age of 19, to start a career as an artist.

A mix of folk and country

In terms of musical influences, “I consider myself a folk, country artist. You can find pop in some songs, but there’s not a lot of it.” “When I was a kid, I listened to a lot of Tracy ChapmanI grew up with her. She was a great reference for me in folk. I’m a big fan of Passenger also. When you start to develop your musical style, you necessarily do what you like, what you are used to listening to. Very naturally, I moved towards this style. We didn’t have much of it in France, so I wanted to be able to develop it, but in the French way. I have a few songs where I sing in English, where I do a little mix, but most of my songs are in French. It’s important for me to bring this American style back to France” explains Eloïz.

As for the themes of his songs, Eloïz draws on his life to write. “All my songs are my stories. I’ve been writing songs since I was 16. The first song I wrote was “Hey Bro,” my biggest hit so far. I give importance to the lyrics, it’s important that they tell something and that they speak to people too. To put sincerity into what I write, I need to have experienced things.”

“My first album is a bit like my diary” Eloïz

On the occasion of her appearance at the “Le Lot en Meule Bleue” festival, the 25-year-old singer will discover the Lot. “I’m a Northerner who moves around a lot. I’m not often at home, I often go on trips, on vacation. It’s always great to be able to discover new places.”

Eloïz is delighted to be scheduled on the same night as James Blunt. “I hope I’ll have the chance to meet him. James Blunt is an artist I listened to a lot in my adolescence. He’s a great international artist. It’s great for me to be able to open the festival and know that he’s headlining that day.”
