Singer and cabaret artist Liselore Gerritsen has died at the age of 83, her family announced in a press release on Thursday.
Gerritsen died on Wednesday. “We will remember Liselore as an inspired and versatile woman,” said the family about the singer who also wrote poetry, lyrics and stories.
Gerritsen was born in 1937 in the Gelderland village of Wichmond. In her student days she started the Leidsch Studenten Cabaret together with Paul van Vliet, with whom she later married. Later they founded Theatergroep PePijn together, with Youp van ‘t Hek and Herman Finkers, among others.
As a singer, Gerritsen released several albums in the seventies and eighties. In 2004 she returned again with the album Liselore Nu. In her later life she mainly took to the stage for lectures and readings from her own work.
After her divorce from Van Vliet, she met music producer Ruud Jacobs. She was together with him for over 40 years, until his death in 2019.
