Singer and Belgian Euro song candidate Claude Lombard (76) passed away

Claude Lombard was born Claude Deruyck on February 25, 1945. Her mother Claude Alix acted, presented TV programs and was also a singer; before that she used the name Rita Roque. Her father was the jazz musician David Bee. Together her parents wrote the Belgian song festival song “The best day of my life” which was performed by Mony Marc. Their daughter Claude therefore seemed destined for the music world, although she did not choose the easiest path.

Because “Claude Deruyck” didn’t seem like a flashy name to her, she called herself “Claude Lombard”, after the Lombardstraat in the heart of Brussels where she lived at the time. Shortly after her musical education she made a musical version of work by Boris Vian and together with her mother she wrote the musical “Flower Power”.
