Singer and actor Dick Rienstra passed away on Sunday 4 July at the age of 80, his family announced today. Rienstra appeared on television in productions such as The Little Truth, The Girl with the Blue Hat, Baantjer, Medisch Centrum West, De Fabriek, Heerenstraat 10 and Then happiness was very common.
In several episodes of Zeg ‘ns Aaa, Rienstra played the role of civil servant Johannes van Herweynen, in three Bassie and Adriaan series he could be seen as adjutant Van der Steen.
Nooy’s Volkstheater
In the theater he played six seasons with Nooy’s Volkstheater and in the 1970s the native Assenaar appeared on stage alongside Ramses Shaffy, Carry Tefsen and Martin Käfig for the role of Dolle Dries in De Jantjes. He also appeared on stage alongside his son Robin Rienstra in the theater production Vleugellam.

Rienstra made his radio singing debut in 1960 with Pennies From Heaven. He would eventually release several singles and a jazz album. Since 2010, he has performed as a soloist with a big band, performing well-known Frank Sinatra songs.
