INDOZONE.ID – Singapore is preparing a ‘road map’ for the lives of its citizens to be able to coexist with COVID-19. Later, Singapore will treat COVID-19 like an endemic disease such as the common cold.
The country reportedly will not enforce strict regulations to stop the spread of the corona virus.
In addition, there will be no quarantine of travelers, and no need to be isolated for those who have been in contact with sufferers.
Singapore also plans to no longer announce the daily number of Covid-19 cases.
The priority of the Singaporean government in the next few months is to prepare Singaporeans to live side by side with Covid-19.
This was conveyed by three officials who led the task force for handling Covid-19 in Singapore. Namely, Minister of Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, Minister of Finance Lawrence Wong, and Minister of Health Ong Ye Kung.
“It has been 18 months since the pandemic started and our citizens are tired of this war. Everyone is asking when and how the pandemic will end,” they said in a statement The Straits Times, yesterday.
“The bad news is that Covid-19 may never go away. The good news is, it’s possible to live a normal life amidst Covid,” the statement added.
That means, the corona virus that triggers Covid-19 will continue to mutate and thus survive with the community.
A road map is being developed so that Singapore can move to the new normal. This achievement can be achieved in line with the vaccination program.
Like most countries, Singapore had a peak in cases at the beginning of last year reaching 600 cases a day in mid-April.
