JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) asks the public to be aware of the transmission of Singapore Flu by maintaining their immune system.
Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin explained that the influenza virus has many variants and continues to mutate.
Such as H1N1 or Swine Flu, H5N1 or Bird Flu, to Singapore Flu or what is known as Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD).
With the virus continuing to mutate, transmission is increasing. However, the mutation from the Singapore Flu whose cases are starting to increase in Indonesia is not a new, deadly variant like Bird Flu.
“The data we see is that there is a new variant, but it is not a deadly variant like Bird Flu,” said Budi Gunadi at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday (28/3/2024) evening.

Budi explained that influenza virus infections mostly attack patients with weak immune systems.
The impact can also increase, for this reason people need to maintain physical health so that the body is not weak if attacked by this variant and maintain the body’s immune system to prevent disease transmission.
“If you have an infection like the flu, the important thing is that your immune system is not weak. Don’t sleep too little, eat (don’t) eat less. That ensures your endurance,” said Budi.
The Indonesian Ministry of Health reports that cases of Singapore Flu have recently increased significantly. Monitoring until the 11th week of 2024, a total of more than 5 thousand patients were infected.
Director of Health Surveillance and Quarantine at the Ministry of Health, Achmad Farchanny Tri Adriyanto, said that this record increased compared to the previous year in the same period.
