Travelers from six countries in southeast Asia, including Indonesia, will start to be allowed in Singapore starting today, Wednesday (26/10).
The decision was made in line with the latest developments in the Covid-19 situation in these countries.
Even so, in a virtual press conference of the multi-ministerial task force (MTF) on Covid-19 on Saturday (23/10), Singapore’s Minister of Health Ong Ye Kung said there are a number of health conditions and protocols that must be followed by travelers, including from Indonesia, before entering the country.
One of them is to undergo a 10-day quarantine at their respective places of residence or accommodation, no longer in special facilities set by the government.
Indonesia along with 19 other countries are included in the list of countries with the Covid-19 situation category III.
The other 19 countries include Malaysia, Israel, Maldives, Rwanda, South Africa, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates, Cambodia, Egypt, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Mongolia, Qatar, Samoa, Seychelles, Slovenia, Tonga and Hungary.
followed The Straits Times, all countries in category III must still have a negative PCR test a maximum of 48 hours before departure.
However, the travelers are no longer required to undergo a PCR swab test upon arrival in Singapore.
Travelers will have to take another PCR swab test after completing the 10-day quarantine.
Even though the quarantine place has not been determined by the government, travelers are still required to stay at their respective accommodations for 10 days upon arrival in Singapore.
Travelers must keep electronic monitoring devices on during the quarantine period.
All of these rules must be followed by immigrants from category III countries regardless of travel status and vaccination status in their country of origin.
Singapore will also facilitate the entry of more fully vaccinated domestic workers to meet urgent needs. Ong said the figure, which is currently around 200 people a week, will be increased to 1,000 people per week.
