Jakarta –
The energy crisis is haunting Singapore. Singapore is in danger of being pitch black. Indonesia could be a contributing factor.
The reason is one: the supply of natural gas to Singapore from Indonesia has not fully recovered since the disruption in July.
Quoted from Reuters, Tuesday (10/19/2021), last week the Energy Market Authority stated that gas supply disruptions in Indonesia had contributed to the surge in electricity prices.
“The recent spike can be attributed to a number of factors, including higher-than-usual electricity demand, blackouts of several generating units, gas restrictions from West Natuna, as well as low landing pressure from gas supplied from South Sumatra,” EMA said. Reuters, last weekend.
Meanwhile, SKK Migas stated that gas distribution is starting to improve although it has not fully recovered.
“Gas distribution in September has started to improve compared to July, which experienced production disruptions, but it has not returned to normal as it was earlier this year,” said SKK Migas Deputy Operations Julius Wiratno.
“This is due to a decrease in the rate of gas production in one of the fields,” he added.
The disturbance that occurred in July was caused by the cessation of Anoa Field and maintenance at Gajah Baru Field. Both are located in Natuna.
Spokesman for SKK Migas Migas Rinto Pudyantoro said production in Natuna fell 27.5 percent from the previous peak to 370 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).
